Practical tools · No account needed

Turn uncertainty
into useful questions.

Prepare a first conversation and compare what two providers are offering. These tools organise your questions; they do not assess your legal position or choose a lawyer for you.

General preparation information, not legal advice. Rules and options depend on your circumstances and jurisdiction. Check current official information and speak with a qualified adviser about documents, rights or deadlines.

01 / Plan your first conversation

Your questions, in one place.

Choose a topic and practical needs. The planner prepares questions, not legal advice or a recommendation. Please do not enter names, documents or case details.

Arrangements you would like to ask about

MY FIRST-ENQUIRY PLAN
Topic: Buying or selling property
Next step: Finding the right provider

Before contacting an office
- Describe the issue and relevant state or territory in a sentence or two.
- Flag dates you have already been given; this planner does not calculate deadlines.
- Confirm the provider’s identity and secure intake process before sharing documents.

Questions for the provider
- Does the proposed work include reviewing the contract before I sign?
- Which searches, external expenses and later stages are excluded?
- What happens to the scope and price if the transaction does not proceed?
- Who would handle my matter, what is included and what could cost extra?

Record which providers confirm they handle the work and can discuss your timing.

General preparation information, not legal advice. The provider must assess your circumstances. This plan does not appoint a lawyer or protect a deadline.

Selections stay in this page’s memory and are not submitted or saved by this tool. Refreshing clears them. Using Copy places the plan on your device’s clipboard; printing may save it to a file or printer you choose.

02 / Compare the same work

A quote is more than its price.

Use figures on the same GST basis for both quotes. Enter 0 for additional amounts only if you have confirmed there are none. Blank or invalid amounts remain unknown. This adds the amounts you enter; it does not estimate legal fees, calculate tax or recommend a provider.

Provider A

Tick only work confirmed as included:

Known subtotal: not yet confirmed

Not a final bill. Unlisted expenses, exclusions or later work may remain.

Provider B

Tick only work confirmed as included:

Known subtotal: not yet confirmed

Not a final bill. Unlisted expenses, exclusions or later work may remain.

Scope check

Matching boxes do not prove the scopes are identical. Confirm the tasks, limits, exclusions, timing and responsibility in each written proposal.

Unchecked means not confirmed here, not necessarily excluded. Amounts and choices stay in this page’s memory; this tool does not submit or save them.

Try a worked example.

Imagine Provider A quotes $600 for a review and advice call, while Provider B quotes $900 including written amendments. Both amounts are fictional teaching figures on the same assumed GST basis, not estimates of market prices. Enter 0 in each additional-amount field only for this example, and tick document amendments for B. The scope check highlights why the two totals are not prices for identical work.

For your own quotes, leave expenses unknown until confirmed. Ask A what amendments would cost and B whether further negotiation is included. The tool cannot tell you which scope you need; that requires a conversation about your circumstances.

General preparation information, not legal advice. Rules and options depend on your circumstances and jurisdiction. Check current official information and speak with a qualified adviser about documents, rights or deadlines.
